A gun room of more than 3,000 pieces in 
    excellent condition and from all periods    

 
The museum possesses numerous bladed weapons, firearms, uniforms as well as a magnificent samurai's armour and a strange collection of wax heads which is unique in Europe.

The samurai's sabers (tanto, wakizahi and katana) are among the oldest weapons in the museum (5-6 centuries). One can also find swords from the Napoleonic period and magnificent Arab daggers. The museum also has a crossbow from North Africa with its poisoned arrows.

The collection includes remarkable firearms: Arab rifles from the 18th century with their stocks decorated with ivory in such a way as to allow the rank of the owner to be determined, dueling pistols with their stocks of mother-of-pearl or of silver, the prototype of the first pistol of the French police force, double-shot flintlock muskets...
