Over the last 80 years, armoured vehicles form the spearhead of modern armies. The museum Musée des Blindés in Saumur traces their origin, their history and their technical evolution throughout the world from 1917 till today.

La Loire à Vélo

La Loire à Vélo, is a vast tourist bicycle route with a length of 800 kilometers, a unique bike path in France. From one direction to the other, it connects Cuffy (close to Nevers) to Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (just across Saint-Nazaire). Imagine: it traverses the regions Centre- and Pays- de-la-Loire. Having noticed the increasing number of camping cars travelling across the vineyards in the south of France, the editor of a wine-growing magazine invented the concept of « Invitation formula ». He became aware of the difficulties for overnight parking in the country side. His idea was to propose to wine growers a formula for free parking in a private environment and thus permitting them to host camping car owners on their property the whole year round, for one night or 24 hours stay. That was in 1993….
